Philanthropy
By
Simon Brewer
Philanthropy and social impact are increasingly important areas of study to understand how capital can be used to create positive societal outcomes alongside financial sustainability.
This course looks at philanthropy, including charitable giving, foundations, and impact-driven capital allocation, and examines how financial tools and strategies are applied to address social and environmental challenges. Students will explore topics such as impact investing, grantmaking, social return on investment, and the evaluation of outcomes and risk in philanthropic initiatives.
Together, philanthropy and social impact play a vital role in strengthening communities, promoting equity, and addressing complex global issues by mobilizing resources and fostering collaboration across sectors.
